Can British designers service Australian clients?

Written by Georgia Allinson

Trove has found a new home down-under! I moved from Bristol, UK to Sydney, Australia in October 2025 and brought Trove Interiors with me.

I had visited Australia in April 2025 after always having wanted to go and immediately fell in love. The people, the food, the lifestyle, the weather, was everything I had hoped it would be and more. I returned to the UK feeling so inspired and knew I had to get back as soon as possible.

But I had only recently launched Trove Interiors in the UK and worked on UK-based projects…

So, for my business this maybe wasn’t the best move but, for my personal life I knew I had to explore this adventure and took the leap to try again on a whole new coastline, on a whole new continent.

I continue to be inspired by Aussie design and innovation from fashion boutiques to restaurants and cafes where there is an emphasis on experience and environment. This is clear from the considered design of the space and the selection of materials and lighting.

Simply put - every where is gorgeous.

So while, at the time of writing this, I don’t yet have experience of an Australian construction project and am building my own dictionary of building terms (gyprock = plasterboard, dooner = quilt), my core appreciation and eye for design hasn’t changed.

My understanding of design fundamentals (balance, harmony, rhythm, proportion, emphasis) transcends geography and with my commitment to researching new brands, terminology and solutions, I believe I can seamlessly service Australian clients.

None of my projects were ever approached in prescriptive way, I have always approached my projects with unique understanding and care of the specific goals in mind and will continue to with all future projects and designs to ensure the best outcome for my clients.

Trove’s first project down-under will be my very own apartment which we are moving into at the end of October. I am beyond excited to begin designing a new space with new challenges.

Maybe the most obvious one being designing for a new climate but also that I will be living in rented accommodation so will not be able to change any of the fixed finishes or structural elements but I hope this will be a useful exercise in showing all spaces can be beautiful with thoughtful choices.

Being on camera is not at all a strong suit of mine but I want to document the process of designing and furnishing my new apartment on TikTok so do follow along there for updates.

I will also document this new journey here so please sign up to the email newsletter below for all updates and when I will be opening the studio again to take on new projects.

TLDR: Can British designers service Australian clients? Yes! I’m going to show you how on TikTok and future blog posts.
